The Central Ohio Fire Museum is the place to bring your fireman fan for the afternoon. Located in the heart of downtown Columbus, this restored 1908 fire station is a whole museum about firefighting! A perfect rainy-day destination, this indoor museum has much to offer the inner firefighter in kids of every age, from 1 to 105!
With a children’s play area, “Fire Safety Way” and a burned room display, there is a ton of fun for kids, and many a great conversation starter about fire safety for parents with children, and a great reminder for adults to check on their home fire safety measures; smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, and fire safety plans.
Worth the trip downtown alone on a rainy day, it can also be a great combination sunny day trip with one of the outdoor parks nearby that overlook the Scioto River. Battelle Riverfront Park and Bicentennial Park are both within walking distance!
