North Market News!
The City of Columbus has announced its interest in updating and renovating the thriving North Market. City officials are soliciting ideas from local developers about expanding the full-to-bursting popular urban marketplace, with the tentative plan to sell to a developer who can bring innovation and expand the usable space there.
Columbus is clear, they’re looking for long-term success for the North Market that is and the North Market that could be…if the plans they see don’t make sense for the space or would threaten the market or surrounding neighborhood, they’ll keep the market as it is.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the initial response from North Market manager and vendors was positive. The market has been around for 140 years, and previous changes have been good for both the Market and the neighborhood. An expanded North Market could be good for everyone if done well.
The Columbus Team looks forward to seeing the possibilities for North Market development!
