The Scioto Audubon Metro Park includes the largest free outdoor climbing wall in the United States. Three towers and two arches are up to 35 feet high, and extend to over 6,100 square feet of climbing surface. Climbers must bring their own equipment and sign a waiver, but for climbing enthusiasts, this is a wonderful resource. With a waiver, and parental supervision, kids can free climb at the bottom and get a taste of mountain climbing! Older kids may love it enough to purchase climbing equipment and begin a new lifetime healthy hobby!
Scioto Audubon resulted from a partnership between Metro Parks, Columbus Parks and Rec, and Audubon Ohio. This park includes wetland habitat for birds and wildlife, but is known throughout the city for its recreational opportunities.
For our canine neighbors, there are two dog parks at Scioto Audubon, one for small and one for large dogs, both include an agility course.
Scioto Audubon offers boat access to the Scioto River, fishing, hiking, and a few picnic tables, plus sand volleyball courts with nets (bring your own ball), and Neos, an interactive electronic game structure that fascinates all ages.
The nature center is open year-round, as is the climbing wall, trails, and Neos, so do consider this park for activities all year round.
