Worthington School District
Worthington school district, located north of Columbus, consists of eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools serving an average of 9300 students. In the 2009-2010 school year, the Ohio Department of Education gave Worthington School District a high rating, Excellent, having met or exceeded the academic standards set by the state of Ohio. Worthington is considered a highly effective school system.
Some basic statistics for Worthington Schools are: 70.3 percent of Worthington teachers have a master’s degree or above, 95.5 of the students graduated high school, the mean ACT score was 24, and and the mean SAT score was 1144.
Worthington School district also offers some special programs, such as All-Day Kindergarten (before it becomes mandatory), Summer School, Phoenix Alternative Middle School which offers a program with a mastery grading system and places a high value on self-direction, choices, and students taking responsibility for their own learning and evaluation, and Linworth Alternative Program, a High School which allows students to take a more active role in their education and further what they’ve learned with experiential education opportunities.
