Westerville City School District, located northeast of Columbus in northern Franklin and southern Delaware counties, has sixteen elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools, serving an average of 14,300 students. In the 2008-9 school year, the Ohio Department of Education awarded Westerville schools the rating of Excellent for meeting most of the academic standards set by the state of Ohio.
